Title:
Family Partnership Charter School
Description:
The Family Partnership Home Study Charter School supports student success through a variety of collaborative academic programs that respects the unique educational strengths and needs of each student in all grades K-12. Family Partnership Charter School is a WASC Accredited, direct-funded Independent Study Charter School, sponsored by the Blochman Union School District. Family Partnership Charter School serves students in grades K-12 that reside in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties using a personalized approach to learning. Family Partnership Charter School programs offer non-classroom based instruction through learning centers that focus on Independent/Home Study, Project-Based Learning, Montessori Methods, and the Academy of Classical Education approach. Through all programs, a partnership between the school, advisor, parent and student are built to support student learning. Family Partnership is a public school operating with public educational funds. However, public charter schools are structured quite differently than the traditional non-charter, classroom-based public school system. The primary goal of our charter school is to maximize personalized learning opportunities for students, and to guarantee that our students can master the necessary skills to succeed in the workplace of today and tomorrow. Family Partnership allows for wide differences in student learning styles, abilities, and interests, a task that is difficult to accommodate in a traditional classroom school setting. Unlike a traditional public school, parents “personalize” the learning environment to the individual needs of their children. Because of our school’s unique system, a “one-size-fits-all” curriculum is not mandated, and parents remain the authority of any material affecting their child’s attitudes, values, and beliefs. Through your Teachers, and website, we provide training for our parents in curriculum choices, learning styles, computer literacy and other areas as needed.
